Smells Like Carrot

MERRY CHRISTMAS, CARROT FANS!

Here's a little Carrotty Kid comic as a festive treat - hope you enjoy it!

Thanks to you all for bearing with me as The Carrotty Kid has to sit on the sidelines while I continue my proper comics work for The Dandy! Hopefully there'll be more Carrotty updates in the new year, but in the meantime why not pick up the Christmas issue of The Dandy, featuring SEVENTY-SIX festive, fun-packed pages, including two pages of my own strip, George vs Dragon. A bargain for £3.99, and much more enticing than a Christmas sweater.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, and we'll see you back here in 2011 for all-new Carrotty adventures! HOORAY!

Guest Strip: 'Blind Devotion'

WHILE I'm taking a little break from drawing new Carrotty Kid material in favour of working away on my couple of strips for The Dandy, I've had a few ace fellow doodlers offer up their considerable services for me, to bring you all fresh new Carrotty fun in my absence. HOORAY!

The first of these appears today, and is written and drawn by the excellent Rick Eades, who has done a stellar job with his strip. Hooray for Rick!

To see more of Rick's awesome artwork, check out his website at rickeades.co.uk or visit his lovely blog HERE.

If YOU want to contribute a guest strip during my hiatus, don't hesitate to get in touch! I will love you forever, and naturally shout your greatness from the rooftops for all to hear.

Ciao for now!

George vs Carrot

HAS it really been TWO months? Oh my! My apologies, Carrot Fans!

Regular readers may remember that the last Carrotty Kid comic - over TWO MONTHS ago, now! - ended on a THRILLING cliffhanger, as two elderly prunes were chased by a GIANT SNAIL in a not-very-high-speed pursuit.

So where's the next part, you may be thinking. Or, alternatively, you may be thinking, 'PRUNES? Chased by a SNAIL? This is STUPID!' and are now flipping across to another website where such nonsense doesn't happen.

For those of you wondering what's happening with The Carrotty Kid, allow me to explain - not long after I posted the last chapter, I got word from the editors of The Dandy comic that one of my other comics - George vs Dragon - would be seeing print in Britain's longest-running comic (more about which you can read HERE). Hooray!

So, since then I've been busily drawing knights and dragons, and not anthropomorphic fruit and vegetables.

It's been great to finally see my work in print (the first issue to include my strip came out last week, the next is out TODAY), but obviously as a proper, paying job it's had to take priority over CK's adventures, which I do purely out of love (although it's nice when people buy t-shirts).

HOWEVER, this does not mean the end of the Carrotty Kid - oh no! I can't quite put a time frame on his return just yet, but rest assured, everyone's favourite vigilante vegetable SHALL return!

In the meantime, you can enjoy my other comics work in The Dandy, every Wednesday, for only £1.50! Or you can subscribe (especially if you're overseas!) or check out some samples at the website.

And keep your eyes peeled for future Carroty updates!

Tara!

The Carrotty Kid vs Mega-Snail, Part Two

Will someone save poor Mr and Mrs Prunes from Count Cornelius Cobb and his marauding mega-snail? Someone of a carrotty persuasion, perhaps?

Be sure to return here next week to find out, Carrot Fans!

This episode of The Carrotty Kid is dedicated to the SUPER EXCELLENT Aki Atrill and Paula Sewell, who both came rushing to my aid when my dear, old scanner died last week (hence the delayed strip!) Aki and Paula made the trip to Carrotty HQ, armed with a replacement scanner for me, and SAVED THE DAY! Truly, they are as heroic as The Carrotty Kid himself! (Well, he hasn't shown up for a couple of weeks now, so they're actually MORE heroic. Stupid carrot).

Anyhoo, many thanks, you two! And many thanks to YOU, dear reader, for bearing with me while things broke down and general mayhem reigned for a bit.

Now...ON WITH THE SHOW!

The Carrotty Kid vs Mega-Snail, Part One

We're back!

Apologies for the slight delay in getting the latest comic up - things have been pretty busy around Carrotty HQ, but in a GOOD way, more of which we'll be able to tell you about SOON, with any luck!

BUT LOOK! See what's now begun, an ALL-NEW, MULTI-PART Carrotty Kid adventure, as Count Cornelius Cobb and his Mega-Snail threaten the good people of Legume City. Will our hero be able to stop this diabolical double-act?

Be sure to stick around to find out, chums! And while you're waiting, why not check out the EXCELLENT new Carrotty Kid shop, full of kick-ass Carrotty clothing and MORE!

See you next week!

You Say Karate, We Say Carrotty

HIIIIIIIYA!

Some new film about a kid who gets trained in karate by a wise, old teacher is released soon. Apparently, it's called The Karate Kid, and is based on a film of the same name from the 80s...nope, we've never heard of it either!

Haha! Of course we have, which is why we're honouring the original classic this week, with a strip inspired by a scene from that very movie, when Daniel is undergoing his training for his karate tournament.

Of course, The Carrotty Kid itself is an ongoing homage to The Karate Kid, with both Carrotty-san and Master Che-Ri being based upon Daniel-san and Mr. Miyagi themselves.

We'll be joining the ranks of karate fans when the remake is released here in the UK, ready to see if Smith and Chan can match Macchio and Morita. Have any of you Carrot-teers seen the film yet? Did you like it? Let us know!

In the meantime, for those that haven't seen the new flick, here's the trailer to whet your appetites.

And remember: PICK UP THE JACKET!

FIREBALL!

FWOOOOOOOOSH!

If only we could all throw fireballs, huh? That'd make life a lot more interesting!

Sadly, we can't, but life is still kept VERY interesting, thanks to the continued adventures of The Carrotty Kid - HOORAY!

As well as a new strip, we've a new character appear this week, Melonhead, the school bully, who'll be returning on and off to make our hero's life hell. Booo, hiss!

And talking of new, there'll be more new comics this week, a couple of new t-shirt designs and possibly some other goodness if I can get my computer to work properly. Stupid thing. Man, I'd LOVE a fireball about now...

Food For Thought

This Strip's Bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S

WELCOME to a very special guest-star in today's Carrotty comic - BANANAMAN!

Bananaman - the 'nana-powered superhero - is celebrating his thirtieth birthday this year, having debuted in Nutty comic waaaay back in 1980. Created by brilliant cartoonists Steve Bright and the late (great) John Geering, The Big Blue Blunder quickly found favour with readers, and was granted his very own TV series in 1983, which featured the vocal talents of popular comedy combo, The Goodies.

The entire Bananaman TV series has been re-released in a tasty boxset to celebrate the blue berk's thirtieth, which is a MUST-BUY for fans of classic British cartoons, or fans of silliness in general!

Bananaman still also graces the pages of The Dandy Xtreme comic, where he continues to battle evil and bungle his way through adventures.

So, let's all fill our glasses (with Banana Daiquiris, naturally) and give three cheers to one of Britain's best-loved superheroes! Hip hip, HOORAY! Hip, hip, HOORAY! Hip, hip, HOOOOORAY!

- Fanton.

Bananaman is © D.C Thomson & Co Ltd, and appears here purely in homage to the great series. No copyright infringement is intended, so please don't send General Blight after me! Thank you.

Chopsticky

As a wise man once said: 'man who catch fly with chopstick, can accomplish anything'. Let's hope the same wisdom doesn't apply to carrots, or else The Carrotty Kid is in BIG trouble!

If you enjoyed CK's latest antics (and we hope you did!) then have we a TREAT for YOU! For the first time in Carrotty history, we're pleased to say the above strip is available to purchase as either a fine print or a poster, thanks to the excellent folk at RedBubble!

Please take a peek RIGHT HERE, and treat yourself to a tasty bit of carrot artwork today!

Thanks, chums! Until next time!

And don't let those lemons sour your day!

Robot Rampage

HE'S BACK!

The Carrotty Kid returns! And see how he STOPS that EVIL Count Cornelius Cobb, DESTROYS a giant robot AND levels his school all within one comic. Now THAT'S bad-ass.

Chop-Choccy

I'm hungry now.
